Going for A Stop

As in, we attempted to go for a walk. But as we are trying (failing?) to leash train the puppy, I believe it is more accurate to call it a stop. If we walk with the dog she pulls so hard on the leash that she ends up choking herself and then going into coughing fits. So, training starts now for two reasons: 1) so it happens before she gets big enough to drag me behind her and 2) so she doesn't crush her own little puppy airway. For now we are trying the "loose leash/tree" method. If the leash is slack, we walk. If it is not, we become a tree until it goes slack again. From what I can tell this is a surefire method of getting nowhere fast. It took us about an hour to go maybe 1/16 of a mile. We are all exhausted.
