Itemizing The Car
In the Car:
1) Three bags of canned and boxed food. One camp stove. No pots, pans or cooking utensils. No can opener. Hmm. Breakfast was sandwitches at 4:30 PM. Wonder why.
2) Three camera bodies, five lenses, four lights, one tripod, two umbrellas (be this not rain umbrellas), two stands, one softbox, one lightmeter, two transmitters. What is a softbox exactly?
3) Newly accquired (ie. today) light products: Two petzel head lamps, two LED keychain lights, one blinking thing that lights up in your mouth, over sixty feet of kevlar wicking for fire dancing purposes only.
4) Two sets of climbing rope, three harnesses, one beading tray, eight pairs of shoes, one jar of Block Island sea water, one down comforter, three bedspreds, and at leat ten tubes of 30 or more SPF sunblock.
5) Three Spanish dictionaries. Six "Learn Spanish" tapes, levels one through three.
6) And up until 8:30 PM tonight, no map.
7) And finally, us, two hapless creatures who have, obviously, no idea what we are doing, as exemplified by the fact that we got our license plates yesterday, began the trip with no map, are still missing a window, and well, we think the car's contents kind of speak for themselves.
No wrong turns though.
We did get hit by a car while we were parked in FRONT of the NYC apartment building while LOADING our car BEFORE we had even left. But it only produced a cracked headlight.
So, we've made it through five hours of rain (thank you Rain-X!) And now the moon is shining and we are happily eating dinner (albeit a bit late) in Pittsburg, PA with the loverly Shielah.
